Homemade Foundry

This was my first group project. We filled a steel bucket with concrete, and placed a steel crucible within, made from pipe. A torch was made using hose from a propane line. We used the torch to heat the crucible, and melted aluminum inside of it. We poured the aluminum into a steel muffin tin to make aluminum "nuggets".

We experimented melting several metals including:

• Recyclable aluminum (cans)

• Copper (pennies)

• Bronze

• Aluminum alloy (used for Apple products)
